WriteCause is a volunteer-run organization that runs free quarterly writing contests with topics centered around major world issues. Through writing, we encourage education about topics of global importance to spur ideas for solutions.  Aanya Kolli

Executive Director 

​Aanya Kolli is a freshman at NCS. She is the Founder of WriteCause. From a young age, she has enjoyed giving back to the community. When she was 7, she sold crafts and raised over 1,400 dollars for various charities through an initiative called Little Caring Arts. Additionally, she loves competing at Math Meets and Science Olympiad competitions. Aanya is an avid debater. She coached her school's debate team for two years. In her spare time, she writes poetry and short stories.   Spreading her point of view through writing has always been extremely important to her. 

Anoushka Mitra

Outreach/Marketing Director

Anoushka Mitra is a freshman at North Shore Country Day School. She manages Outreach and Marketing for WriteCause. Anoushka loves to travel and give back to her community. Recently, she set up a food drive at her local homeless shelter and planned multiple events with them. Through WriteCause, she hopes to give teens a way to express an interest in solving problems in the world surrounding them. In school, she’s a member of the debate team and the school newspaper. Anoushka also loves to play tennis, volleyball, and the piano.



Shreya Sil

Outreach & Marketing Coordinator

Shreya Sil is a freshman at Torrey Pines High School. She is part of the Outreach and Marketing team for WriteCause. Shreya loves to tutor and give back to the community. She has been tutoring her peers and younger kids for the past two years. Through WriteCause, Shreya hopes teens can write their feelings and improve their writing. In school, she is part of the Mock Trial and Computational Thinking Club. During her free time, Shreya can be found at the beach or hanging out with her friends. She also loves to bake and learn different recipes.


Bella Guagenti

Outreach & Marketing Coordinator

Bella Guagenti is a freshman at NCS. She works as an Outreach and Marketing Coordinator. She has always enjoyed studying current issues and creating solutions for them. From a young age, she has participated in river clean-ups and is currently planning one to give back to her community. Additionally, she loves singing and performing in musicals. In Bella’s spare time you can find her reading, practicing softball, or spending time outside with friends and family.


Chloe Kim

Outreach & Marketing Coordinator

Chloe Kim is a freshman at Canyon Crest Academy. She is the Administrative Coordinator at WriteCause and is looking forward to showcasing real teen voices and their diverse perspectives on current world issues. Growing up, Chloe was an avid reader--and a major Harry Potter fan--prompting her to now enjoy journaling and writing short stories. Chloe also competes on her school's Science Olympiad team and is a black belt in Taekwondo. She writes for Outlier Magazine and is a third-year National Guild of Piano Teachers winner.   In her free time, she enjoys making films, hanging out with friends, and roller skating.




Izzy Zhong

Outreach & Marketing Coordinator

Izzy is one of the marketing coordinators for WriteCause. She lives in Los Angeles California. Izzy plays piano for ABRSM and JV tennis for her school. Her favorite book trope is romance, specifically, enemies to lovers. She loves fashion and music. In her free time, Izzy liked biking and hanging out with her friends!


Nalini Butterworth

 Blog Coordinator

Nalini is a writer for the blog. In their free time, they enjoy hiking and ringing peal bells. They are a registered beekeeper and love animals. You can often find them playing solitaire and making jokes that nobody else finds funny. They love being part of the WriteCause team!


Kristina Oganyan
 Blog Coordinator

Kristina Oganyan  is from Cyprus and is currently studying in Connecticut. Kristina is an avid musician who enjoys playing the clarinet.  Additionally, Kristina is a keen reader and writer. She is a part of her school’s newspaper team, and she enjoys writing various articles that highlight her point of view and encourage people to become invested in global issues. Kristina believes that through writing we can achieve the establishment of solutions toward global amelioration.

Maggie Abt

Maggie is a front-end developer, designer, and consultant with over 10 years of experience working with clients in both the public and private sectors to build modern, scalable, and user-friendly solutions. In her spare time, she collects unreasonable amounts of holiday decor and tacky coffee mugs, tends to a vast garden of seasonal peppers, and makes HOT, hot sauce.

Lisa Liu

Lisa is a Director at NetImpact Strategies Inc., an award-winning Federal Consulting firm inside the beltway. She’s passionate about problem-solving and believes that our worlds and realities are all just constructs that we’ve built as a collective. This means that words are the most powerful peacemaking tools and weapons within us all so she’s delighted to be a part of WriteCause’s journey in encouraging future problem solvers to start exercising those powers!

Kavita Kalatur

Charles Stewart

Charles was born and raised in Virginia, where he attended K-12 School and eventually graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor's in English with a minor in Linguistics. He currently teaches 8th-grade Language Arts at the Nysmith School for the Gifted along with two electives that focus on cultural exploration, literature, and creative writing. Charles feels that writing is powerful in so many ways such as giving voice, expressing oneself, and creating communication. He finds the idea of seeing something so authentically from another's perspective and inner mind is at the heart of what makes the pursuit of writing so worthwhile.
